I began my ​teaching career many years ago in Toronto, Ontario. If you have never been, it is a bit like if New York and Chicago had a baby. It is a beautiful city with all the many pillars of diversity represented, places and spaces for everyone to find a home, and people with whom they can cultivate a sense of belonging. It is an incredible city that always offers something new and exciting.  

 

Fun Fact: Toronto has been named the most multicultural city in the world. Over 180 languages are spoken in the city, which is also a great place for foodies and festivals. I visit as often as possible, but now live two hours away in the WATERLOO REGION.  

 

Waterloo is west of Toronto and north of Hamilton. It is well known as the birthplace of Blackberry, the best Oktoberfest outside of Germany, and the new Google hub.  Waterloo is in the greenbelt and surrounded by active farms. If you enjoy farm-to-table eating, great outdoor spaces, and a quiet lifestyle, you will love Waterloo.  While I self-identify as a "big city gal,"  I am happy to be here to enjoy this region's many charms.

I am a school superintendent for the WATERLOO REGION District School Board.  No one understands what that means or what I do.  Essentially, I ensure that students have the teachers, resources, and programming to reach their highest potential. I strive to ensure that social location no longer predicts outcomes for students.  I coach, mentor, and monitor school administrators in our quest for excellence in educational achievement for all our students.​ The most important thing I do daily is maintain a learning stance. I strive to learn something daily to bring value to my district and improve my leadership in ways that will make a difference for those I serve.

The best thing about my job is that I love it! It can be busy and stressful, but I go to work every day to make a difference for kids and families. It is the best mission.

​

When I am not working, I am studying French , working on my figure skating, taking a hot yoga class, or reading something about leadership.

In the winter, I play hockey and ski. I like to take long walks everywhere at any time of the year!

I love to travel and enjoy vacations on beaches and exploring busy cities. 

My favourite cities are: Toronto, Nice, London, Rome, Las Vegas, and NYC.

I am planning to retire to the South of France, but I still have a few countries to visit before I do so.
